Men's Issues

The phrase “being a man” can hold a lot of power over our lives. Our ideas about masculinity and how we measure up have a profound impact our relationships, our body image, our work, our sexuality, and other areas of our life. Learn more about how therapy can help you understand and address these forces here.

Professionals

Professionals are talented, educated, and highly-driven people who are accountable for the safety and livelihoods of others on a daily basis. The term often includes healthcare workers, legal experts, first responders, and executives. You may benefit from specialized professionals treatment if you experience compassion fatigue, burnout, perfectionism, or lifestyle imbalance. Learn more about how therapy can help here.

Addiction

Addiction impairs our judgement, stifles the our values, and isolates us from true nurturance. Although early recovery may bring some hope and relief, it also brings many new challenges. We may face shame, stigma, and mistrust as we begin to rebuild. And, on top of all this, we are positioned to confront all the things addiction only covered up.

Trauma

Psychological trauma is a response to an event that we were not properly equipped to cope with. Our minds and bodies try to adapt, but this process contains many opportunities to get stuck or bring up highly distressing symptoms. Trauma is often interlinked with men’s, professionals, and addiction treatment. I primarily use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which you can read about here.

Tailored, Integrative Care

Integrative care blends empirically supported treatments to match problem, treatment phase, and client preference. Interventions are selected pragmatically so therapy stays efficient, relevant, and personalized.

Interpersonal Process uses the therapeutic relationship to notice patterns, repair ruptures, and practice new ways of connecting. These insights and experiences in the “here and now” are generalized outward to work, family, and other areas.

Psychodynamic Therapy explores underlying meanings and recurring relational themes to deepen self‑understanding and shift long‑standing patterns.

Motivational Interviewing resolves ambivalence and strengthens commitment to change using reflective listening and value‑based conversations.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy teaches practical skills to reduce symptoms and produce measurable, real‑world results.

Cognitive Processing Therapy investigates unhelpful beliefs about safety and trust obtained through traumatic experiences. Clients learn how manage trauma symptoms, refute “stuck points,” and integrate their experiences.

  • How It Works

We will begin with a structured intake that inventories symptoms, historical context, environmental factors, and areas of strength. We coauthor a plan with clear short term goals and measurable markers. Treatment blends evidence based skills and depth work: CBT for symptoms, motivational interviewing for readiness, interpersonal process and psychodynamic work for relational patterns, and trauma informed care with optional Cognitive Processing Therapy if appropriate. Sessions emphasize practical work and regular outcome reviews.

I prefer to avoid assigning and documenting specific clinical diagnoses. However, if you would like me to do so, I can often accommodate.

  • Delivery Formats

My office in Near Southside provides a comfortable, private setting for experiential work. Secure telehealth uses HIPAA compliant Google Meet for structured therapy, follow ups, and clients who need remote access. Hybrid care combines both so we can start with in person stabilization and shift to virtual sessions for maintenance. Documentation and goals remain unified across formats.

I offer individual, family, and couples sessions to participants age 16 and older. Social support is a key factor in achieving and maintaining therapeutic goals, so I am also happy to offer free and paid services to coordinate with the support networks and care teams of clients participating primarily on an individual basis.

  • Scheduling Options & Session Types

Individual therapy is available weekly, biweekly, or monthly to match the phase of treatment and life demands. I typically suggest beginning with weekly sessions, which is best for intensive work or trauma processing. As treatment progresses and clinical needs decrease, biweekly sessions help maintain scaffolded support. Once all major treatment goals are attained, monthly sessions may be used for maintenance and relapse prevention.

Twenty minute check-in calls offer focused problem solving between sessions. Customized intensives are scheduled by agreement.

  • Pricing, Payment, and Billing

All 50 minute sessions are $180 regardless of format or participants. Twenty minute check in calls are $60. Intensives are based on $180 hourly rate with final pricing set by scope.

I do not bill insurance directly but will provide a complimentary superbill on request. Debit, credit, HSA, FSA, and cash accepted.

Missed sessions with less than 24 hours notice are billed in full. Flexible arrangements for professionals can be prearranged.
